Network outages reported from Comcast customers in USA

Toronto Network Outage

CLOSED: Peer 1 confirmed that "after further investigation, it appears this network issue occurred in the Comcast network which affected customers in PEER1's Toronto data centers on November 17th between 8:07AM Pacific Time ~ 8:54 AM Pacific Time. It was confirmed by Comcast later on the same day that they had a hardware issue which affected the routing in their network, so traffic that were traversing via their network would have been affected by this event."

UPDATE 3:00 PM EST: Peer 1 continues investigating the causes of the network issues and will continue providing updates. As far as we know there are no impacted customers at this moment but we will continue alert in case of other issues. As soon as we have more information we will share it here.

UPDATE 2:23 PM EST: While we are still waiting for more details from Peer1, we received an update from our CDN partner (Verizon Digital Media Services) regarding a service degradation on the Chicago POP which seems to be related to the issues experienced earlier today: "it looks there was a ComCast Fiber cut in the Chicago area, resulting in network related issues and 5xx errors. Traffic has since been re-routed to another carrier, and we are seeing improvements at this time."

UPDATE 12:20 PM EST: Peer 1 engineers made a routing change at 16:54 UTC / 11:54 EST to fix this issue. We are still waiting for more details regarding this outage. If you are still experiencing an outage please contact us and we will investigate immediately.

11:50 AM EST: We are investigating a network outage reported by several customers. So far it looks like this is only affecting Comcast customers in the US. We will post another update as soon as we have further information.
