Downtime in Canix datacenter

CLOSED 6:30PM EST: we have received details from our datacenter partners regarding this incident, please read below:

————

At approximately 12:49PM EST today, a hardware failure on one of our core routers rendered it unresponsive. This has caused some of our BGP routes to fail and thus resulting in an outage on some segments of our network.

As usual, our team responded with prompt action, but due to unforeseen re-configuration issues with stand-by backup hardware, the root cause of the issue was resolved at 1:13PM EST. However, route propagation delayed full resolution. Some network segments came back immediately, while others took longer to re-establish connectivity (Speedyrails was up at 1:33PM EST).

We truly apologize for the network issues in our Canix facility during the last months. We have decided to close this facility by the end of this year and will move all our assets to our new and more robust Peer1 facility during the next months.

We also have plans to open a new facility within the Peer1 network by the end of the year, so far we don’t have selected a datacenter but this facility will be in the US West coast (Seattle, San Jose or Los Angeles).

Again receive our apologies for the inconveniences of the recent network issues. Rest assured we are working hard to offer you the best hosting experience.

UPDATE 1:37PM EST: the network is back to normal and all our servers and sites are reported up. We are still investigating this network spike and will provide details as soon as possible.

1:10PM EST We are investigating a network downtime in our Canix facility. We will post an update as soon as we have more details.
