Notice: Peer1 backbone network maintenance

UPDATE: Please be advised that this maintenance has been postponed and will be re-scheduled for a future date in January of 2011. Once a new time has been set, we will send out a new maintenance notification.

IMPORTANT: Since our second facility in Montreal is hosted in a Peer1 datacenter this maintenance might affect our services, please read below for more details:

Please be advised that PEER 1 Hosting will be performing a scheduled backbone network maintenance during the following window:

From Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 23:00PM PT to Thursday, December 9th, 2010 05:00AM PT (Dec 9th, 02:00AM ET - 08:00AM ET)

This maintenance is necessary to upgrade the network backbone’s interior gateway protocol (IGP).  This upgrade will help accommodate next generation data center expansions and backbone network growth as well as enhancing current network technologies such as IPv6 and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS).

For further details regarding IGP please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interior_gateway_protocol

Peer1 engineers have taken the necessary precautions to ensure that any possible impact is kept to a minimum and they do not anticipate any outage of your network services.  However, you may experience a few occurrences of brief packet loss and latency during this maintenance window while the IGP is being converged.
